The CT Anti Steering Bill #5793 passed on June 2, 1992. The bill, designed to prohibit Insurers from steering work to particular repair shops, became effective October 1, 1992.
(“Steering” is what the insurance industry tries to accomplish for purposes of blackballing repair shops that do not repair the car as directed.)
The provisions of this bill are:
- It is YOUR right to decide which repair shop will fix your vehicle, this is Connecticut Sate Law!
- You are NOT required to go to a Insurance Direct Repair Program shop or an insurance recommended shop.
- You are NOT required to get any repair estimates.
- You do not have to settle for after market parts, as you have the RIGHT to OEM parts for your repair.
